Gas-Phase Photocatalytic Oxidation of Aniline with nano-TiO_2(I)

2005
The gas-phase photocatalytic oxidation of aniline on a new kind of nano-TiO_2 composite films was investigated. The composite film was prepared on glass fibre with the water glass as binders and dilute H_2SO_4 solution as solidifying reagent, whose surface characters was observed by scanning electron micrograph (SEM). The photocatalytic degradation of aniline on the composite films was carried out in TiO_2/UV system. Some important factors affecting the photodegradation were also studied such as the concentration of TiO_2, the initial concentration of aniline, and water vapour existing. The product of Photocatalytic oxidation was detected by FT-IR. The partial intermediate products were absorbed on TiO_2 surface, which resulted in catalyst deactivation. But when it was irradiated under UV-illumination or solar irradiation for some time, the catalyst could be reused without the loss of catalytic activity.
