Antiepileptic drugs for bipolar disorder and the risk of suicidal behavior: a 30-year observational study.

2012 
The FDA in 2009 warned of increased suicidality with all antiepileptic drugs, regardless of the illness being treated. Longitudinal clinical observations of 199 bipolar patients taking carbamazepine, lamotrigine, or valproate in five U.S. medical centers found no evidence for increased suicidality.
