Influencing factors of the once cure rate of lacrimal passage probing for neonatal dacryocystitis

2018
Objective To analyze the influencing factors of the once cure rate of lacrimal passage probing for neonatal dacryocystitis. Methods The once cure rate of 4 487 cases(4 927 eyes)of neonatal dacryocystitis treated by lacrimal passage probing were analyzed, and influence of age, preoperative numbers of lacrimal duct flush before operation, intraoperative and postoperative complications on once cure rate was analyzed. Results All of 4 480 cases (4 917 eyes) were cured, the cure rate was 99.8%; 4 364 cases (4 796 eyes) were cured at one time, the once cure rate was 97.54%. There were significant differences in cure times among different ages (P 0.01). The effect of intraoperative complication on the once cure rate was statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusions Lacrimal passage probing is an effective method for neonatal dacryocystitis. The once cure rate of lacrimal passage is not related to the number of lacrimal duct flush before operation. In infants with neonatal dacryocystitis, the best ages of probing lacrimal passages is at 3-6 months, and the once cure rate is the highest. Gently perform operation and decrease the complication during operation, can improve the once cure rate effectively. Key words: Neonatal dacryocystitis; Lacrimal passage probing; Once cure rate
