Assisting Reproduction with the Use of Donor Eggs

For many years, sperm donation for artificial insemination has been available for the treatment of male-factor infertility. With the development of assisted reproduction technologies (ART) during the 1980s, new therapeutic options became available for the treatment of infertility. One such development is the use of donated eggs with in vitro fertilization (IVF) in women with decreased ovarian reserve, premature ovarian failure, heritable genetic abnormalities, and those who have previously undergone multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts.
