Bell's Bridge Rehabilitation

2001
Bell's Bridge carries Tidewater Drive, a major urban arterial in the City of Norfolk, Virginia, over Wayne Creek, a tributary of the Lafayette River. During a routine inspection in 1995, significant delaminations were found along the bottom flanges of many of the prestressed concrete beams which comprise the bridge's existing superstructure. Consistent with the City's Service Life Extension Program, Bell's Bridge was also tasked with investigating options for repair or rehabilitation of the deteriorating structure to extend its service life.
