Condylar Osteomyelitis Secondary to Dental Extraction: An Unforeseen Consequence
2012
Osteomyelitis of the mandibular condyle is an uncommon disease with a scarce mention in the medical and dental literature. This clinical case describes osteomyelitis of mandibular condylar process, coronoid process and ramus in a 30 year old woman as a severe complication following third molar removal. Timely intervention with a less invasive procedure saved the patient from the significant morbidity possible with infection in this region.
