Finite element simulation analysis of influencing factors in near field eddy current testing

2019
Near field eddy current testing is mainly used to detect the pipe properties such as the inner diameter and magnetic permeability of metal pipes, which provides important data support for the quantitative analysis of subsequent pipe defects. Based on the near field eddy current testing model, the 3D finite element model of near field eddy current testing is established and solved by ANSYS. The influence of the circumferential arc, axial length and radial depth of the defect on the intrinsic diameter of the pipe is analyzed. Finally, simulation analysis was conducted on the effect of eddy current testing instrument’s detection speed and center deviation on near field eddy current testing results. The results show that different pipe defects, instrument speed, and the center deviation of instrument will affect the inner diameter inversion of near field eddy current testing, and the relevant trends are consistent with near field eddy current testing theory.
