Análisis de la Revista de la Asociación Colombiana de Dermatología y Cirugía Dermatológica entre 1999 y 2007

Objective: To evaluate the published articles on the Journal of the Colombian Association of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery from 1999 to 2007. Materials and Methods: Articles published in the Journal of the Colombian Association of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery from 1999 to 2007 was analyzed with the aim to evaluate their methodological quality. In addition, an analysis of published articles by dermatological schools from Colombia was performed.Results: The Journal published three issues from 1999 to 2002, and four issues from 2003 to 2007. In total, thirty-two (32) issues of the journal were analyzed, containing one hundred (100) review articles, thirty-four original articles (including one Controlled Clinical Trial), one perspective article and 231 case reports. The Universidad de Antioquia and Universidad del Valle published the major number of original and review articles respectively.Discussion: The main strengths of the Journal are the regularity of publication and the frequent participation among dermatological schools from Colombia. The main weaknesses are the insufficient publication of original articles and theabsence of Publindex category.Conclusions: The Journal has low frequency publications of high epidemiological quality on clinical research. This article includes recommendations to increase the scientific quality of the journal and to improve their impact.
