Application of single-atom catalysts in carbon dioxide reduction

2018
As an abundant and inexpensive C 1 resource, CO 2 transformation by renewable energy has attracted much interest, and become a most promising strategy for sustainable development. Meanwhile, the single-atom catalyst, with its unique structure and electronic properties, has been widely used and acted as a bridge between hetero- and homogeneous catalysis. In this review, we outlined the recent advances on single-atom catalysts toward the catalytic reduction of CO 2 under different external environment conditions, including the design of single-atom catalysts, the catalytic behavior of single atoms in CO 2 conversion, as well as the challenges and prospect of such novel catalysts in the fields of CO 2 reduction.
