Equipment of seismic station IRIS KIEV and software interface for access to seismological data

2019
The monitoring hazardous natural processes in order to assess risks to the public and industrial facilities and ensure safety has become the starting point for the creation of appropriate monitoring systems. The development of a modern hardware base entailed the need to develop methods for processing a continuous stream of information in real-time. The main development trend in the field of seismological monitoring is the introduction of information technology and the automation of information collection and accumulation processes. The largest and most extensive of the currently existing seismological monitoring systems in the world is the IRIS GSN, a network that actively interacts with most international and national seismological systems (the Consortium of Research Institutes in the Field of Seismology). This modern seismological observation network uses the latest information technology. One of its main achievements is the standardization of data and research results. The IRIS KIEV seismological station, which is operated by the S.I. Subbotin Institute of Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine with the US Geological Survey Seismological Laboratory (Albuquerque), is the base station for observations on the platform part of Ukraine. The article provides a description of the functional scheme of the equipment, integrated into a complex — seismological station IRIS KIEV. The possible methods for obtaining data from the IRIS KIEV seismic station described through the Internet resource of S.I. Subbotin Institute of Geophysics are described. The results of seismological studies are of significant scientific interest in studying the deep structure of the lithosphere, modern geodynamics, seismotectonics, regional seismicity, and engineering seismology.
