BEEAGLESAT and HAVELSAT: Two 2U CubeSat’s for QB50

BeEagleSat and HAVELSAT are developed as a cooperation of a number of academic institutions, NGO, SMEs and the Turkish Aerospace Industry for the QB50 project (www.qb50.eu). The two satellites are delivered to ISL in Netherlands on their way to ISS via Nano Racks. The launch system was changed several times affecting greatly the design and the budget of the satellite development. Two satellites make use of mNLP (multi Needle Langmuir Probe) payload for science operations on the upper atmosphere. Structure, OBC-Beacon, Control Card subsystems and antenna deployment mechanisms are developed and manufactured locally by both university and SMEs. Test and integration of satellites are carried out in Istanbul Technical University Space System Design and Test Laboratory (SSDTL) and Acoustics and Vibration Laboratory facilities.
