Optimal Broadband Pulse Design in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance

It is essential to develop and optimize the pulse for nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging. For practical applications, it is often desirable to achieve the optimal performance for a range of parameters, such as chemical shift and radio-frequency inhomogeneity. We apply optimal control theory (OCT) to the design of pulse that are robust over these parameters. It has been demonstrated that the optimal control algorithms can design pulse sequences with high sensitivity, broader bandwidth and significant contrast for relaxation, which means great value in magnetic resonance.
