Correlation of ZAC and somatostatin expression in gastric cancer tissues.

2008
Objective To study the correlation of ZAC and somatostatin (SST) expression in gastric cancer tissues, and explore the relationship between expression of ZAC and SST with clinicopethological factors of gastric cancer, and the correlation between ZAC and SST. Methods Immunohistochemistry was performed to detect the ex-pression of ZAC and SST in gastric cancer tissues (n =30 cases) ,gastric tissues adjacent to cancer and normal gas-tric mucosa tissues. Results The positive rate of ZAC in gastric cancer tissues, gastric tissues adjacent to cancer and normal gastric mucosa tissues was 33.3 % (10/30) ,73.3 % (22/30) and 66.7 % (20/30) respectively; that of SST was 36.7% (11/30) ,53.3% (16/30) and 73.3% (22/30) respectively. The positive rates of beth ZAC and SST in gastric cancer tissues were significantly lower than those in normal gastric mucosa tissues (P 0.05). Conclusion ZAC is sig-nificantly correlated with SST in gastric cancer tissues. SST and ZAC may be involved in the development and pro-gression of gastric cancer.
