Detection of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (GC) in Pooled Urine and Cervical Swab Specimens by BDProbeTec ET.

2001
METHODS: Three public health laboratories performed CT and GC testing on a total of 882 male urine and 1156 cervical swab specimens. All specimens were processed according to the product insert, tested individually and in pools of five (5x) and ten (10x). Site A (n=500) tested urine specimens, site B (n=1020) tested both specimen types but pooled only like specimens, and site C (n=528) tested pools of mixed specimen types. If a pool yielded results inconsistent with the results of the component specimens, the pool and all individual specimens were repeated, subject to availability.
