The application of 50 ml syringe needles precision puncture in ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy

2018
Objective To explore the application value of 50 ml syringe needles in ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Methods A total of 256 patients underwent ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL) with 50 ml syringe needles at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical University; number of punctures, length of puncture, color of pumped urine and intraoperative injury of peripheral organs were retrospectively analyzed. Results For the 256 patients, success rate of one puncture was 92.97% (238/256). The length of puncture was 18~62 s, with an average of (30±10) s. The urine pumped during operation presented no obvious bleeding, and no pleura, peritoneum and intestinal canal injury occurred during operation. Conclusion Fifty ml syringe needle is an economy, easy access and precision puncture in ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy. It achieves high success rate of puncture and shortens length of puncture, which is conducive to the promotion by beginners and grass-roots hospitals. It is a safe and effective improved puncture technique. Key words: Syringe; Needle; Ultrasound; Percutaneous nephrolithotomy; Renal calculi; Precision puncture
