Sepsis and Septic Shock

2013
The natural course of sepsis produces major and different hemodynamic changes. All determinants of cardiovascular function, including both central and peripheral blood volume, preload, afterload, and both right and left pump function, may be involved simultaneously or at different times during the progression of the septic insult. Echocardiography is fundamental for the assessment and treatment of the septic patient.
