Beam performance and characteristics analysis of meter-wave OFDM-MIMO radar under multipath conditions

2021
In view of the complex electromagnetic environment faced by the traditional meter wave radar, especially the forward main lobe jamming which is highly correlated with the radar emission waveform, the target, jamming and multipath echo models of the proposed METER wave frequency division multiplexing MIMO radar are established and quantitative analysis is carried out. The theoretical framework for quantitative analysis of multipath characteristics under this system is established and the gain closure expressions of direct wave and multipath echo models and joint transmitting and receiving two-way directional pattern are derived. Different from traditional MIMO phased array radar, the proposed meter wave OFDM-MIMO radar array two-way directional pattern has range-angle two-dimensional resolution, and has good multipath suppression and anti-master lobe jamming performance. Both theory and simulation show that it can suppress multipath echoes effectively in the direction of array normals, and the suppression ability is further improved with the increase of frequency offset bandwidth.
