The Case Study on the Cultural Identity in Virtual Community

The rapid growth of the internet has been influencing people’s daily lives deeply and widely. As one of the basic human activity organizations, the social community also has made a profound change. Virtual community, which has been created by it, is a new model of social community. Twenty-first century is an era of culture management. With the development of globalization and informatization, people pay more attention to the cultural identity in virtual community. Starting from the cognition and emotional dimension of cultural identity, this study is based on the network interpersonal interaction. Through the research of the specific virtual community “Exempt Exam Ban”, it finds out that the participants of the virtual community establish their virtual identity and cultural identity through interactive symbol displaying and interaction. Meanwhile, after a long period of information sharing and interpersonal communication, the participants have formed the emotional attachment and identification.
