Factors associated with the raising prevalence of gonorrhea in Shenzhen in 2016

2019
Objective To analyze the factors affecting the raising prevalence of gonorrhea in Shenzhen in 2016, so as to provide references for the formulation of relevant prevention and control strategies. Methods The special questionnaires were used to collect relevant data, which included the outpatient quantities, laboratory methods, test numbers and the positive numbers of STD diagnosis in shenzhen in 2015-2016, so as to calculate the raising prevalence of gonorrhea, and conduct the sensitivity analysis. Results The number of outpatients in the STD-related departments of the 31 medical institutions surveyed in 2016 (5 750 134 cases) increased by 9.97% compared with 2015. In 2016, the prevalence of gonorrhea, laboratory detection rate, and sensitivity of detection methods increased compared with 2015, with growth rates of 16.55%, 42.86%, and 0.10%, respectively. Sensitivity analysis showed that the population prevalence and laboratory detection rate contributed 0.24 and 0.49 to the increasing incidence of gonorrhea, respectively. While the sensitivity of the experimental method, the correct diagnosis rate, and the report rate contributed little to the incidence growth rate of gonorrhea in Shenzhen in 2016. Conclusions The increasing number of gonorrhea cases in Shenzhen in 2016 may be related to the increasing prevalence rate and laboratory detection rate.
