Laser Treatment of Urological Tumours 2: Carcinoma of the Prostate and Penis

1990
Carcinoma of the prostate is the commonest urological cancer and is the fifth commonest malignant tumour of males worldwide (Parkin et al. 1984). It remains one of the major challenges in urology. In the UK it characteristically presents to urologists at a late stage with extensive local disease and/or metastases (Chisholm and Habib 1981), though in much of Western Europe and North America approximately half the cases will be potentially curable with small-volume, localised disease.
