Treatment of eruptive angiokeratomas of the flanks with topical and oral beta-blockers.

2021
Dear Editor, A 21-year-old female patient presented to the dermatology clinic with a recent onset of red lesions on her abdomen (Fig 1). These sometimes bled when knocked or traumatised accidently. She had a background of asthma, Von-Willebrand disease and polycystic ovarian disease. On examination, she had scattered red-purple, scaley 2-5mm papules on the flanks. Dermoscopy showed uniform red-to brown lacunae. Her blood tests were unremarkable. A biopsy from the lesion showed epidermis with orthokeratosis, acanthosis and elongation of the rete ridges, and thin-walled dilated and congested blood vessels centrally within the papillary and upper dermis. A diagnosis of angiokeratomas was made.
