Traitement par la vancomycine d'une pneumonie à Streptococcus pneumoniae résistant à la pénicilline G

Summary The hospital of St-Etienne, like a lot of hospital centers, describes the apparition of penicillin G resistant strains of S. pneumoniae . Until may 1992, Saint-Etienne area was not touched, as there was less than one per cent of anormal sensibility to the beta lactam agents. But in six months time, 2 S. pneumoniae resistant strains have been isolated ; the last one, a serotype 9, has been responsable of a severe pneumonia which was treated by vancomycin.
