Study on the energy consumption and emission characteristics of urban two-lane system

2014
In this paper, a lane-change model, a traffic car-following model, and an energy consumption model are used to establish a two-lane system aiming to investigate energy consumption and emission of the traffic flow. The carbon dioxide emission is regarded as the indicator of energy consumption. On this basis, the software MATLAB is used to do the implementation of the program. The results show that when the density is larger, energy consumption in a lane-changing circumstance is lower than that in no changing condition. The difference becomes more and more distinct with the increase of density. Furthermore, in analyzing the stability of the system, flow's stability of lane changing system is a little higher in low density. In high density, speed showed obvious volatility; in short, the system is instable.
