The product with a substrate made of a partially stabilized zirconia, and a buffer layer of a fully stabilized zirconium oxide, and process for its preparation

The invention relates to product with a partially stabilized zirconium oxide substrate (2) and a fully stabilized zirconium buffer layer (4). The substrate (2) is non-texturized and the buffer layer (4) is biaxially texturized and connected to the substrate (2) by means of an intermediate layer (3) made of a material that is different from zirconium oxide but is compatible therewith. Said product is specially manufactured by ion-beam deposition of the buffer layer (4), and is particularly suitable as a carrier for a functional layer (1) made from a ceramic supraconductor, e.g. for use as a supraconducting current limiter.
