Synthesis and characteraziton of C8-functionalized ordered mesoporous aminopropyl-silica

Objective To establish method of modifying the mesoporous aminopropyl-silica(APMO) with C8 functionality and study the adsorption and separation capacity of the C8-functionalized mesoporous aminopropyl-silica(C8-APMO).Methods Mesoporous aminopropyl-silica was prepared by co-condensation method,and C8 was introduced to the mesoporous silica via the grafting method.Elemental analysis and IR spectrophotometry were proposed for the characterization of the C8-APMO,and adsorption and LC tests for the performance.Results C8 were successfully bonded onto the surface of APMO.C8-APMO had high surface area(765 m2/g),pore-size 3.9 nm and stronger adsorption over commercial silica for oxymatrine.The colum with C8-APMO showed good separation capacity of phenylamine,toluene and anthracene.Conclusion C8-APMO has a bright future as the adsorptive and chromatographic materials.
