2019
Bibliography: pages 100-103%%%%"The economic effect in Puerto Rico by the closure of Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Ceiba
was estimated at $300 million per year. The intent of this thesis is to address ways in which
a design can be the key component of a redevelopment master plan in Roosevelt Roads
Naval Base and enhance Puerto Rico as premier in tourism, entertainment, a commercial and
recreational destination in the Caribbean. Ceiba Hotel, villas, and water transit facilities will
create robust economic development in the region by maximizing the natural spatial qualities
of the environment and promote its conservation thru eco-tourism. The Roosevelt Roads
territory is a unique area and with an opportunity of this magnitude, Puerto Rico must diversify
its economy to secure its economic future."%%%%Keywords: Roosevelt Roads Naval Base, economic development, the Jones Act, Internal
