BEHAVIOR OF FIBER CONCRETE REINFORCED WITH STEEL SPIRALS UNDER CYCLIC COMPRESSIVE LOADING

An experimental investigation of the behavior of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) under cyclic compressive loading was carried out. The influence of short fibers, in the presence and in the absence of traditional steel spiral reinforcement, was examined. The complete stress-strain curves in compression were obtained. The envelope curve was found to govern the cyclic response. The ultimate strains, the ductility and the mode of failure of FRC with steel spirals were analyzed. The combination of fibers and steel spirals led to a much higher energy absorption and ductility.
