Caracterização das queixas de saúde mental e ações dos profissionais da ESF em uma UBS de Itajaí Characterization of mental health complaints and actions of professionals in the Family Health Strategy at a Basic Health Unit in the city of Itajaí

One of the challenges of the Basic Health is to promote actions in mental health, identifying, treating and following up on complaints, what in fact is assured by the principles and guidelines of the Unified Health System (UHS). In order to identify the way this is happening in practice, we carried out a qualitative search in a Basic Health Unit which has link with the Education Program at Work for Multidisciplinary Health (PET) at the University of Vale do Itajai - UNIVALI. The following set of questions were raised for the study: What emotional complaints were more frequently reported by users from BHU? And how were these complaints treated by the BHU teams? The study sample was composed by 20 professionals from the Family Health Strategy (FHS), they were doctors, nurses, community health workers, nursing technicians, dentists and oral health technicians. The data were categorized according to the first question, complaints of mood and psychosocial complaints, and as for the second question, the complaints were categorized according to the UHS concepts of the principles .It was clear that after this study the demands of mental health in the unit are very frequents and are related to the social context of the users. On the other hand because of the lack of matricial and continuing education professionals feel insecure to handle that demand, and it explains the tendency to send the users to the reference services of the municipality.
