Acute Coronary Syndrome Evaluation with Nuclear Medicine in the Emergency Setting

2021
In this chapter we will approach different modalities of cardiovascular stratification in emergency room, pointing pros and cons. First valuation of a patient with chest pain is ECG and troponin, which are a good tool to identify myocardial necrosis, although it is frequently not enough to identify ACS with normal ECG and to predict an event and discharge patient safely. For that, risk stratification is crucial to prevent coronary events, invasive conducts, rehospitalizations, unnecessary health resource expenditures, and occupation of highly complex hospital beds with low-risk patients.
