The research of broadband MIMO millimeter wave transceiver system: Design and test

2016
A design of broadband multiple-input and multiple-output(MIMO) millimeter wave transceiver system is developed in this paper. The millimeter wave(mm-wave) transceiver system includes the ultra-wide bandwidth baseband data processing unit (BAP), intermediate frequency module (IF), mm-wave frontend and the power module. The developed system can support 4×4 MIMO configuration. The mm-wave frequency of the transceiver is 28 GHz and the channel bandwidth is up to 500 MHz. The architecture adopts an intermediate frequency of 2.75 GHz, and the receiving link adopts digital intermediate frequency sampling. Meantime, the launch link uses a secondary frequency conversion structure. Link tests and system tests with the antenna arrays are conducted. The experiment results show that the developed system works well and provides hardware basis for future mm-wave broadband access applications.
