Antibacterial Activity of Two Algerians Propolis

2014
Despite the availability of different approaches for the discovery of new therapeutically agents, natural products still remain as one of the best reservoirs of new structural types. Due to the notable medicinal value of bee glue, it was very interest to carry out a phytochemical investigation of this natural product. In our present study we report the result of our qualitative analysis of secondary metabolites extracted from algerian propolis. Ethanolic extracts of propolis were prepared for chemical analysis. For antibacterial assays, agar diffusion method, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined against several species. We found that algerian propolis is very rich in flavonoids. Our propolis showed remarkable inhibitory effect on bacterial growth.
