The Patella in Total Knee Replacement: A Problem or Not?

A two-part Imperial College, London Hospital (ICLH) prosthesis with a high anterior flange was used to replace the knee joint in 42 patients between 1978 and 1982. In 1985, 36 patients, 22 of whom had rheumatoid arthritis and 14 osteoarthrosis, were reexamined clinically and radiographically with a special interest focused on the stability and function of the patella.
