Analysis of interleukin 10 (IL-10) -1082G/A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotypes in breast cancer (BC) patients (pts) and in >95 years old cancer free women

2005
9656 Background:the anti-inflammatory IL-10 -1082 (G/A) SNP might be associated with different risk for breast tumor development. The -1082GG homozygous genotype is associated with an higher IL-10 production compared to 1082GA or AA genotypes. Cancer rates increase sharply with age.The incidence and mortality for cancer show a levelling off around 85–90 years of age, followed by a plateau, or even a decline in the last decades of life. Methods: we studied 86 consecutive BC pts (26 Stage I, 37 II, 9 III,14 IV; median age 60), 162 healthy age matched (CTRL) and 40 >95 years old women (>95 CTRL).All pts, after a written informed consent. were genotyped for the IL-10 - 1082 G/A SNPs, using amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction (ARMS-PCR). Results: data are reported in the table.BC pts showed the lowest frequency of anti-inflammatory -1082GG genotype compared to age matched and oldest controls. -1082 GG, GA and AA frequencies were significantly different between patient and >95 yea...
