Notch effect arising from the stud bolt in a 750 MVA turboalternator

1998
AbstractStrain gauge measurements are described, which were carried out on a rotor of a 750 MVA turboalternator in the notched area arising both from the presence of a radial hole for the passage of the stud bolt that served to connect the conductors running axially with the external ones, as well as the variation in diameter between the slotted central part of the rotor and the cowled end portion. The load conditions were the weight of the rotor and the centrifugal forces acting on the masses of the stud and the conductors connected to it. The centrifugal forces were simulated by means of an external reaction ring. The notch effect resulting from the radial holes and the variation in diameter was assessed.
