Effects of whole-volume fertilizer application after harvesting on ‘Satonishiki’ sweet cherry growth and yield

2019
We compared the effects of whole-volume fertilizer application after harvesting versus conventional fertilizer application on the growth, fruit quality, and yield of 'Satonishiki' sweet cherry in Yamagata. With whole-volume fertilizer application after harvesting, the leaf colour was maintained in the year of fertilization and the number of fruits per spur and yield tended to increase in the year after fertilization. However, no differences were observed in plant growth (length and leaf size of young shoots) in the following year between the two fertilization methods. Fruit quality also showed no significant differences between the two fertilization methods.
