Thrust of permanent magnet linear synchronous motor with ferromagnetic block on pole face

2012
A permanent magnet linear synchronous motor with a ferromagnetic block set on the magnet surface produces an additional reluctance force. Different combinations of the number of pole and the number of slot are evaluated in the magnitude of the thrust and the thrust ripple. The magnitude of the thrust is remarkably improved in a 4-pole 3-slot model. The reduction of thrust ripple is carried out by skewing the permanent magnet and the ferromagnetic block.
