بررسی میزان آگاهی و عملکرد دندانپزشکان شهر اصفهان در مورد تدابیر لازم در دوران بارداری

Introduction: Oral health in pregnant women might influence the health of the mother and infant. Dental procedures during this period should be carried out in a way that will not have any detrimental effects on the mother and fetus. The aim of this study was to evaluate knowledge and attitude of dental practitioners in Esfahan of measures taken during pregnancy. Materials and methods: A total of 75 dental practitioners in Esfahan participated in this descriptive study by completing a questionnaire containing 20 questions (14 for knowledge and 6 for attitude) in relation to dental procedures during pregnancy. SPSS software and chi-squared test were used for data analysis (α = 0.05). Results: The mean of awareness scores of dental practitioners of measures taken during pregnancy was 62%, which is rather favorable. The mean of awareness scores of dental practitioners of measures taken after delivery was 45%. The mean of awareness scores of dental practitioners of dental materials suitable for pregnant women was 49%. Discussion: The overall mean of awareness and attitude scores of dental practitioners in Esfahan in relation to measures taken during pregnancy was acceptable; however, the mean score should increase by raising awareness level. More attention should be paid to educational courses on treatment measures for patients with special conditions, including pregnant women. Key words: Attitude, Dentistry, Knowledge, Pregnancy.
