Modeling of neuromuscular blockade in general anesthesia

2013
Neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBA) play an important role in anesthesia, although they do not provide any pain relief or produce unconsciousness. A Wiener model developed for neuromuscular blockade, using input-output data recorded during surgical interventions at Regional Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology "Prof. Dr. Octavian Fodor” Cluj-Napoca is presented in this paper. The model consists of a 3 rd order transfer function and a nonlinear static model. A nominal model was obtained and the linear part was reduced from third order to second order. The model can be used further in a model-based predictive control strategy.
