Contraceptive failure and the progestogen-only pill: the issue of body weight.

This case report focuses on contraceptive failure associated with the progestogen-only pill (POP) and high body weight. It reports on a case of woman with a body mass index of 36 who had two POP failures resulting in termination of pregnancy (TOP) within a seven month period while taking a traditional POP followed by a desogestrel-only pill. The case report discusses the controversy regarding POP dose and weight of the contraceptive user.
