The effect of Dachengqi Decoction on inflammatory response and oxidative stress in rats with acute pancreatitis

2010
Objective: To evaluate the effects of Dachengqi Decoction on inflammatory response and oxidative stress in AP rats(acute pancreatitis). Methods: Fifty-four SD rats were randomized into three groups: sham-operation group,AP group and Daehengqi Decoction treated group. The models of AP were made by retrograde infusion of 50 g/L sodium taurocholate into the pancreatic duct of SD rats. The serum TNF-α,IL-βand IL-6 were measured and myeloperoxidase(MPO),malondialdehyde(MDA) and superoxide dismutase(SOD) in pancreatic tissue were also detected 3,6 and 12 hours after operation. Results: Serum TNF-α,IL-βand IL-6 in serum and the tissue content MPO and MDA were significantly increased meanwhile SOD significantly decreased in AP group compared with those in sham-operation group(P0.05).Compared with AP group, except SOD,the indexes were significantly decreased in Dachengqi Decoction treated groups(P0.05).Conclusion: Dachengqi Decoction may have therapeutic and protective effects on AP by cleaning oxygen free radicals and decreasing inflammatory reactions.
