In-Situ Synthesis of Multilayer Graphene on Tin Film via Localized Heating of Amorphous Carbon Using an Electrothermal Cantilever Nanoprobe

2021
In this paper, direct and localized synthesis of high-quality multilayer graphene (MLG) on a Tin (Sn) film at a low temperature (250 °C) using an electrothermal cantilever nanoprobe is reported. Using metal-induced solid-phase crystallization technique, the carbon atoms in the amorphous carbon layer dissolved in the molten Sn as the catalyst metal and segregate on the Sn film during the localized annealing by the nanoprobe and then graphitize during the cooling process. The I D /I G and I G /I 2D ratio of the synthesized MLG were obtained as 0.54 and 1.70, respectively, demonstrating the formation of high-quality MLG on Sn.
