Luminescent lanthanide-organic framework sensor as a platform for detection of aqueous pesticides

Microporous lanthanide-org. frameworks (LOFs) was constructed by adapting the coordination sites of mixed lanthanide ions with enzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid (Btc). Resonance energy transfer from Btc to lanthanide ions and energy allocation between lanthanide ions are modulated by the host-guest interactions between LOFs and aq. pesticides. Our results indicate rigid LOFs are highly stable in relevant aq. environment condition, and have the capacity to differentiate aq. pesticides with unique emission intensity ratio. The effect of parameters including LOFs particle size, crystal phase orientation, soln. pH on the pesticide detection limit have been examd. In addn., we have shown that by adopting a mixed linker approach using L-aspartic acid (L-Asp) and Btc, Ln-Btc_xL-Asp_(1-x) chiral sensor has been ability to distinguish chiral pesticides in aq. medium. Compared with the traditional HPLC method for the detection of aq. pesticides, our method provides an cost-effective alternative for practical applications in the fied.
