HUBUNGAN DIABETES MELLITUS TIPE 2 DENGAN LUAS LESI PADA FOTO TORAKS PENDERITA TUBERKULOSIS DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE JANUARI – DESEMBER 2019

Background: Tuberculosis is a chronic disease that can affect the lungs. Diabetics are more susceptible to TB infection because of the damage to defense and defense functions when eliminating mycobacterium tuberculosis. DM Patients will increase the risk of 2 to 3 times of suffering tuberculosis. This study aims to analyze the relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus and the extent of the lesion on the chest X-ray of tuberculosis patients dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional observational analytic design with a sample size of 50 patients who had been selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected form secondary and data processing was carried out using the Chi-square test. Results: The results showed that 64% of pulmonary tuberculosis patients had type 2 diabetes mellitus with 88% far advanced lesion cases and there was a significant relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus and the lesion area on the photos of tuberculosis patients (p = 0.000) Conclusion: TB patients who have comorbidities with type 2 diabetes have far advanced lesions. There was a significant relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus and the lesion area of tuberculosis patients.
