Study on the Clinical Characteristics of Primary Sjogren's Syndrome Complicated by Central Nervous System Disease
2015
Objective To observe the clinical characteristics of primary Sjogren's syndrome( p SS) complicated by central nervous system( CNS) disease. Methods A total of 22 patients with p SS complicated by CNS disease and another 22 patients with single p SS admitted in People' s Hospital of Mudan District from Jan. 2002 to Dec. 2012 were selected by 1∶1 case pairing of accordant age and gender, and divided into CNSp SS group and Non-CNS-p SS group. The general conditions, clinical manifestations, imaging examination results and laboratory examination indexes of the two groups were retrospectively analyzed. Results Proportion of cases with typical dry symptoms in non-CNS p SS group was higher than that in CNS-p SS group( 59. 09% vs 27. 27%),the difference was statistically significant( P 0. 05); proportion of cases with high level of thyroglobulin antibody( TGAb) in CNS-p SS group was higher than that in non-CNS-p SS group( 36. 36% vs 9. 09%),the difference was statistically significant( P 0. 05). There were 14 cases of brain damage, and 8 cases of chronic myelitis found in CNS-p SS group. Conclusion The clinical manifestations and imaging characteristics of CNS-p SS is diverse, and TGAb abnormalities may be associated with central nervous system diseases.
