Zastosowanie estrogenowo-progesteronowej terapii zastępczej a przebieg choroby wieńcowej u kobiet w okresie menopauzy - fakty i kontrowersje

2000
There is an evidence of higher risk of coronary artery disease (CAD) in women with decreased sex hormones levels during menopause. Estrongens have been reposted to improve the outcome and to be protective against the developement of CAD in women. The results of studies suggest that hormonal replacement may be a important issue for the secondary prevention of CAD or in patients (pts) with known coronary risk factors but results of Heart and Estrogens — Progestin Replacement Study (HEART) do not support starting this treatment for secondary prevention of CAD. A new class of drugs, selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) is now available to women unable to use conventional HRT.
