Evaluación de la efectividad del ejercicio físico sobre los síntomas vasomotores en la menopausia

2018
INTRODUCTION: The climacteric or menopausal transition stage is the period of change leading up to the end the female reproductive period. It is charecterised by vasomotor labilty. The incidence and severity of hot flashes and other climateric symptoms varie from one woman to  the other. Those symptoms are related to sleep disorders which may cause significant impacto n the quality of life. Hormonal therapies used as a treatment of vasomotor symptoms are potentially associated with some negative health effects, so it is increasingly important to find non-pharmacological treatments. Physical exercise is one of the best options studied due to its low economical costs, its benefits for health and its high probability of being an effective therapy in the treatment of vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause. AIM: Assess the effectiveness of regular aerobic physical exercise on vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes and night sweats) in women peri and postmenopausal women and its influence on the quality of life. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Multicenter randomized controlled trial, open, using parallel groups consisting of women registered to the Malaga District Health Centers between 48 and 64 years, sedentary with climacteric symptomatology and who are not with hormone replacement therapy or any other kind of therapy to alleviate them. The participants will be divided into two groups: Experimental group and Control Group. The intervention to be performed by the experimental group will consist of aerobic exercise without supervision for an hour, four times a week for 6 months.
