Closure tamper evident feature

2011
A closure (40) for a container having an opening into the container, which can be stored a product, said closure comprising (40): (A) a body (42) that is either (1) a structure ( 42) spaced to attach to said container in said opening or (2) a structure formed as a unitary part of said container at said opening, said body (42) at least one dispensing orifice (72) to communicate with said opening container; (B) a lid (44) (1) is connected to said body (42) with a hinge (88) and movable between (i) a closed position obstructing said dispensing orifice (72), and ( ii) an open position spaced from said dispensing orifice (72), and that (2) has a lifting region against which force can be applied to raise the user said cover (44) away from said closed position; and (C) a tamper-evident tab (120) having a proximal end connected frangibly to said cover (44) with a frangible joint; the closure characterized by further comprising (D) a pressing member (150) (1) is connected to said body (42) in an initial unactuated configuration, and (2) subsequently may be pressed laterally towards the inside to (i) deform to an actuated configuration, and (ii) forcing said tongue of inviolability (120) laterally inwardly a distance sufficient to break said frangible junction to separate said tamper-evident tab (120) of said lid (44) ; and wherein a first receiver (120/140) in one of said tamper-evident tab (120) and said pressure element (150) is defined; a first connector (174) in the other of said tamper-evident tab (120) and said pressure element (150) to be received in said first receiver (120/140) to establish a non-releasable arrangement between said tab defined inviolability (120) and said pressure element (150) when said first cover (44) initially moves said closed position; a second receiver (160/164) in said body (42) is defined, and a second connector (174/186) in said first connector (174) to be received by said second receiver (160/164) is defined when pressed said pressing member (150) laterally inwardly from said configuration unactuated to said actuated configuration to establish a non-releasable arrangement between said pressure element (150) and said second receiver while said pressing member (150) is in said actuated configuration to indicate that said tongue is broken inviolability (120).
