Design of Quartz Crystal Microbalance with ring electrode

2019
At present, the chip structure of Quartz Crystal Microbalance (QCM) is mostly prepared by preparing a circular gold electrode on the top of the quartz crystal and a circular gold electrode on the bottom of the quartz crystal, and the QCM is vibrated by applying an alternating voltage to the upper and lower electrodes. In this paper, a chip structure of a toroidal indium tin oxide electrode is proposed. The resonant frequency of the chip is larger, and the QCM resonant frequency signal output is more stable. The new QCM chip is compared to a QCM chip of two other electrode configurations. The same mass load is placed over the electrodes of each chip. The results show that the quartz crystal microbalance of the ring indium tin oxide electrode has more frequency shift and higher sensitivity under the same adsorption mass. The advantage of the ring electrode structure is that the bioprobe can be directly arranged in the central region of the ring electrode, which is equivalent to being directly prepared on the quartz crystal microbalance, which avoids corrosion of the electrode during the process of fixing the bioprobe and affects the conductivity of the electrode.
