Exploring the introduction, expansion and sustainability of caseload midwiferyin Australia

to support the education of midwives. Collaborative stakeholder partnerships are essential to success in efforts to sustainmidwifery education and support midwifery students, inclusive of political and professional commitment. Industry partners may not readily acknowledge this concept of shared responsibility for midwifery education. Those with critical workforce shortages may be more focused on individual staffing needs to the potential detriment of the student learning experience, yet they also need our support to facilitate the fundamental change necessary in the transition to midwifery led models of care. The complexities of health service environments necessarily dictate that the provision of qualitymidwifery education is an ongoing challenge. Critical discussion of these challenges and potential solutions are presented in the context of oneuniversity inQueenslandAustralia, however their future implications extend far beyond state boundaries and are relevant to all midwifery stakeholders.
