Influence of Process Experiment on the Morphology of beta-calcium Phosphate Powders

2013
beta-TCP ceramic powders with different morphologies were prepared by different processes, and were characterized by XRD and SEM. The results show that in the condition of pH 4, high dispersive globular beta-TCP powders are obtained by calcining after heating reaction with Ca(NO3)(2)center dot 4H(2)O and NH4H2PO4 as raw materials, and heating can promote the dispersibility of particles. Tree-like beta-TCP powders are obtained by calcining after ultrasound reaction with CaCO3 and H3PO4 as raw materials. After ultrasound-hydrothermal reaction, clavate beta-TCP powders with the length/diameter ratio of 20 are obtained by calcining. Ultrasonic promotes the equality of particle sizes during the formation and growth of crystal nucleus, which lead to their morphologies regularization. Hydrothermal can make crystal grow preferentially to get a bigger length/diameter ratio.
